7th December 2018

Hello everyone, I’m Mrs Grant. I work in Nursery every morning and in the afternoons I work with children in our Forest School area at the end of the playground.

Everyone has been busy decorating the school ready for Christmas. The Christmas tree in the hall looks fabulous and we even have a book tree and many other decorations around school and in the classrooms.

We are now in the time of advent, which might just make you think of chocolates in calendars but it is also an important part of the Christian calendar. Advent means 'coming' and it's the period before Christmas, which is when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus. The time of advent is all about preparing for Christmas Day. Advent starts on the Sunday nearest to 30th November and this year that was on Sunday 2nd December. Many Advent customs involve counting down the days until Christmas begins. Some churches have an advent wreath with five candles, one for each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas Day and one for Christmas Day itself.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
