19th October 2018

Hi everyone, my name is Miss Hughes and I am the Maths Lead at St. Clement’s.

This week has been Maths week and all the teachers and children have been working hard to solve problems. In nursery, the children have been practising their counting using the song ‘Five Current Buns’ and recognising the value of 1. In year 1, the children learnt about weight and made balance cakes. Year 2 have been spending lots of money and finding different combinations of amounts. In KS2, year 3 learnt about capacity and have been making a splash! Year 4 have focused on length and are able to estimate and measure different lengths in cm and m. Year 5 took part in ‘Project Runway’ and have created tailor made clothes. Year 6 have been solving problems on ratio and they even dyed Mrs Harris’ hair in the process!

It has definitely been a fun filled week with lots of new learning taking place.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Hughes
