Industrial Action

25th April 2023

Dear Parents & carers,

As mentioned in the newsletter last week, the National Education Union (NEU) has balloted its members to continue strike action in its on-going dispute with the Government on teachers’ pay and conditions. The next 2 planned strike days are Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May.  I have consulted with staff and considered which classes we can keep in school with the expected staffing levels across the two days.

On Thursday 27th April  – Reception, Y3 and Y4 will need to stay at home.

On Tuesday 2nd May - Nursery, Y3 & Y4 will need to stay at home.

I appreciate that this is inconvenient, but please be assured we are keeping as many children in school across the 2 days that we are able to manage with staffing levels in school.

There are a number of online resources that these children could access on the strike day including:

TT Rockstars,   Reading Plus,

https://mathsframe.co.uk      https://www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk/literacy/

Plus they will have their reading book and spellings they can practice.

As this is strike action, in contrast to the COVID ‘lockdown closures’, remote learning will not be given. Any children that are entitled to a free school lunch will still be able to access this. Please contact the school by Tuesday morning if you would like to take-up this offer and arrangements will be put in place for your child.

If the situation changes in the coming days we will immediately contact you.

Thank you

Miss Shryane
