30th September 2022

Hello children, parents and carers.

It has been another busy week and children have now started all their new class books and topics as well as enrichment afternoons on Friday and after school clubs. However, it seems we have barely started this new school year and October is already here. The weather is getting colder, nights are drawing in and nature is beginning to show autumn colours.

Next week, children will be looking more closely at nature and the environment as it is the theme for National Poetry Day on Thursday 6th October. Each class will be spending time reading and listening to poetry and have the opportunity to enter a school poetry competition. Winners will be announced the following week and a display in the library will celebrate all their hard work.

If you would like to enjoy some poetry this weekend, then visit www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/english-ks2-talking-poetry to hear a range of poets including Michael Rosen and Benjamin Zephaniah perform some of their favourite poems.

Finally, have a lovely weekend and a well-deserved rest. Keep reading!
