Fundraising and Awareness

The school councillors get involved helping to organise and implement a variety of fundraising and awareness around the school over the course of the year including cake sales, Christmas jumper day and much more.

Recently in early November 2014, the school councillors decided that they wanted to do some good in time for Christmas.  They got together and agreed that they want to organise a toy donation for a good cause.  After some research and a few phone calls (by Miss McLeod) they found just the charity – The Ronald McDonald House Charities.   With Christmas looming they had to act fast.  Elise from Year 6 designed a poster and they advertised the collection around school and within the weekly newsletter.  The response was immense and the councillors were amazed with the response from their peers.  They gathered all the donations together and with the help of a few teachers took them down to the Ronald McDonald house be the children’s hospital.  The charity was overwhelmed with the size of our donation and extremely grateful for all the effort the councillors put in.

A representative – Malcolm, came to visit the school in February 2015 to personally thank the school for all their hard work and let everyone know just how appreciated the donation was. He gave a talk about the the charity and the different parts that make up the important role it plays in lives families with sick children.
